The Cumberland is a pleasing traditional pub in the stunning surrounds of Edinburgh’s New Town. A good range of beers (including alcohol free) are available. The pub itself is split up into a series of smaller rooms with chairs, benches and stools. It does feel like the Cumberland has been here as long as the stones it’s built from...
Watched Scotland beat England in the pub. Good food, nice selection of beers. great place for a pint and a meal.

I was in here recently with my wife, tried to book a table but was told it was fully booked but to try back later, came back later and was lucky to get a table as a couple were just leaving. The waiter was very informative regarding the app and very freindly! I ordered the small plates which were all very tasty and my wife ordered the scampi which was also very nice, there was a great atmosphere with great music! I wouldn't hesitate to come back - superb!! Thanks Joe.
Drinks were nice and the place is lovely. Staff were attentive and friendly. Only issue in had was I thought the music was a little too loud for the venue. And made conversation more difficult than it needed to be. Either that or I am getting too old.

We had dinner at Cosmo and the food was absolutely amazing! The variety of food makes a lot of difference with other buffets and also the quality of food. There is food from all over the world - India, China, Japan, Italy... The staff were very attentive, ready to help you and ready to clear up so you can have a new plate. This is my favourite buffet in Edinburgh! I totally recommend going there!
Hadn't visited this restaurant for some time but met some friends there recently. And was pleasantly surprised .The food was very good freshly made and hot .Had the beef in black bean sauce chicken onion and ginger along with rice all of which was excellent . The deserts were also very good good choice of cake and ice cream fresh fruit also available for the health conscious. All in all good value at £8.99 per head. The staff were helpful and efficient. This will be back on my list for lunch.

I wanted to get away from the crowds on the Royal Mile so I stopped in here to get a late lunch/early dinner. Didn't have to wait long to get a table as I was on my own. It's a cozy spot and the staff is friendly. Everything I ordered was well made, beautiful and tasted great. I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.
One of the best meals I have had in a long time. Could not fault it one bit. My wife and I had the fillet steak and it was cooked to perfection. We also had starters and desserts as well as beer and wine. They do a two course meal deal which was very reasonably priced but it didn't apply to the steak. The atmosphere was relaxed and cosy which fitted with the location. Staff were great too, very attentive even though it was so busy. In all it came to just over £100 including service which was well worth it. Can't recommend it enough and will certainly return, possibly for lunch tomorrow.

This is a must to try - the food was very good. It was different and amazing unique taste. Staff was very polite and friendly. They had a lot of knowledge not only on the menu, they were knowledgeable on the local area, tourist attraction and even Golf! will visit again on our next visit.
Absolute gem of a place. Superb tasting menu. Sea food dishes are fantastic. Wine selection excellent with recommendations with certain dishes. Highly recommended
10a Queensferry St, Edinburgh EH2 4PG, UK – 0131 225 2023
We had the set meal for two, it was really good. The decor is a bit basic so if you are seeking an intimate atmosphere then go elsewhere. However, if you Dont mind aesthetics and just want really good food then this could hit the spot.
Sandra was not there but I loved it. Best Chinese meal for years, well served. Finger bowls needed when eating finger food. J

We visited this place while we were on a short trip to Edinburgh. We were pleasantly surprised by the food quality and overwhelmed by the exceptional service. We went for the banquet menu and received a bottle of wine with it. Both the wine and the courses were great and the waiter was really friendly. I don't write reviews very often but this place was exceptional and definitely deserves more recognition. Will definitely eat here again!
The restaurant is very beautiful, amazing food and cheap and the toilets are clean. Hi recommended.

Lovely atmosphere, nice staff, really good food.
Nice decor and ambiance & good service. Food is average only by Malaysian standard. Stir fried scallops were rather tasteless, seafood sweetness of scallops were missing and the scallops were not succulent & certain pieces were razor thin.

Fantastic tapas on offer on a Sunday. We had a great meal. And was very surprised how low our bill was. Will be back.
Found yhis place through Google after a long afternoon at go-outdoors store nearby. Good food and service. Always like places that make a fine mango lassi.

Excellent choice for indian food in the city! Best I've had. Service was very fast and friendly, and drinks were good as well. The food was well prepared and you could tell. Highly recommended to all!
Good curry house. Nice range of menu items. This place is licensed but also operates as a Bring Your Own Bottle, and so if you're looking for a particular drink to go with your meal it's worth popping into one of the supermarkets along the road to stock up.

Excellent, every time I come to Edinburgh I have to visit zest. The food is excellent and the taxi driver special is too die for. Flavours are unbelievable and staff are so attentive and professional
Nice staff, good food/menu and prices. Would visit again!

Went back to Contini, George Street for breakfast. The last time I was there for breakfast the experience was so bad that I had to do a 1 star review on TA. I had their fresh orange juice and fruit salad which was delicious. The juice was really fresh as they squeeze the oranges on site. I was looked after by the lovely Laura, message to management, look after her she is good. Whenever I have been there for dinner it has always been great. Will definitely be going back to Contini, George Street again.
This was an amazing dining experience. The restaurant is in a beautifully restored bank building. Our server Keri was attentive and helpful. The food quite simply was the best Italian dishes we’ve had in our European travels. I highly recommend this restaurant as it meets all criteria; fabulous menu, beautiful ambience, wonderful wait staff, quality wine list while being amazingly affordable.
42 Queensferry St, Edinburgh EH2 4RA, UK – 0131 225 6937
Really nice place, the menu has loads of options even for dietary customers. The only reason why I have three stars was because the staff look like they could not care less. The type of service was just below average. Ive been there a few times and every time I ask a waiter for something: they turn to me with that look you give when like they're annoyed you need something.
i don't usually go into Pizza restaurants, however after last night's experience I'm asking myself why. The wild boar meat balls with chili and tomatoes was excellent as was the Italian hot pizza. Would recommend this venue.

Had a nice coffee and a really tasty breakfast just what was required after a heavy night. Nice laid back atmosphere. Service was really quick.
Not a big Italian fan but my friend is. We went here twice in 4 days and loved everything we tried. Great food. And, whether you love haggis or hate it, you have got to try the Haggis Ravioli in Cream Whisky Sauce. We will go back to Edinburgh from Denver just to eat this again. No kidding!
25c Thistle St, Edinburgh EH2 1DX, UK – 0131 225 2605
I'm not vegan (French...) and I loved the options of this place. A welcome reprieve to sandwich shops and pub grub, and cafeteria style is very gratifying. Potato salad with dill was as good as any I've had, and the take on haggis offered plenty of flavour, easier to digest. Staff is helpful. Plenty of seating even at lunch rush hour. Self service water, great toilets...
Lovely little cafe with plenty of seating. Self service school canteen style service is fun. Food was absolutely amazing! Nice and hearty on a cold day. Prices were good and portions were more than adequate. I can't wait to go back!
56-58 St Mary's St, Edinburgh EH1 1SX, UK – 0131 556 5888
Amazing vegetarian and vegan restaurant in the heart of the Old Town. Been coming for years and never disappoints! Friendly staff, lovely ambience, superb food and drinks. Taken non veggie friends and that love it too.
Had a lovely dinner for 2 with my lady for my birthday here. The service was impeccable, the food to die for, and excellent wine and cocktails too. Lovely vibe in here, feels very upmarket, and the attention to detail on the dishes doesn't go unnoticed! Will definitely come back here!
71 Rose St, Edinburgh EH2 2NH, UK – 0131 629 2990
Amazing food and great service. A really cute place with lots of character. Had a fab evening and will definitely be going back. Also clued up on gluten-free and allergies options. Lots of choice and no hassle. I would advise booking so you don't miss out
Went there on Saturday 19/05/2018 and had the Meze feast. Food was really good, 5 cold and 5 hot with fresh warm bread. Thought 10 would be sufficient, was absolutely stuffed when finished meal. Would recommend. Definitely go back.

With an inconspicuous entranceway signalled via the warm glow of a lantern that sits above its simplistic wooden doors, the experience starts with finding and entering this incredible cocktail den. A unique place with an amazing atmosphere and incredible selection of cocktails I would go as far to say that this is very likely one of the best bars in Edinburgh. I was impressed by the knowledgeable staff who helped me select the best components for my favourite drink, the old fashioned. I took the recommended rye bourbon and it resulted in the best version of this classic that I think I've tasted. The use of a single large ice cube in the drink that didn't melt away in thirty seconds like in so many places was a touch that left me feeling that this business cares its customers. Overall a classy establishment .
This place is awesome! The guys were friendly and happy to suggest a cocktail if your not sure. Nice interior and decor and the themed menus are awesome. It's just enough out the way to feel like you "found it" but near enough that your not wandering round some back street somewhere.
1a Rutland Place, Edinburgh EH1 2AD, UK – 0131 656 2811
What a gem of a find. The bartender was incredible and the venue was spot on. We asked for his favourite drink and got just that. It was incredible. Please see pictures to better understand. I will be making these at home assuming I can get the Gin in Canada.
Liked the vibe and decor. Had to get up to order three lots of drinks at bar as “waiter” was too busy talking to his mate/ customer. Cocktails were OK but not amazing. Pretty garnishes but flavours not well balanced. Gin was drowned by the other ingredients. Don’t have a problem paying for quality but this was very overpriced all things considered. Prob wouldn’t go back but might have just been an off day.
5 Merchant St, Edinburgh EH1 2QD, UK – 0131 225 1770
Seriously exceeded expectations. The venue itself was cozy and interesting, the service was exceptional without being over the top (was even asked if I needed a taxi at the end of the meal), and the pasta was very fresh and skillfully done. I had a cuttlefish and cod black ink ravioli with just the right amount of garlic and chili, it was glorious. Would definitely go back for special occasions; during my booking I noted my wife's birthday and they responded by giving us the best table in the restaurant with some really nice complimentary desserts at the end. Quality really shows at this place.
My wife's favourite restaurant! Ask for Silvio's advice. Fab real real Italian food. This is a vinoteca. They have a superb wine tasting machine from which you can sample some of the very best of Italy. It's a bit expensive but worth every penny for a special night out. Enjoy.
