Local Bookshops

Blackwells Bookshop

53-62 South Bridge, Edinburgh EH1 1YS, UK – 0131 622 8222

A lovely independent bookstore with helpful, knowledgeable staff who are always keen to assist. The book displays are well thought out and inviting. Look out for author events.

Beautiful bookstore with nice staff. They had a great 3 for 2 book offer I took full advantage of.

Waterstones

128 Princes St, West End, Edinburgh EH2 4AD, UK – 0131 226 2666

This store is my kryptonite. I always end up buying more than I wanted because they have a lot of offers and I'm a massive book nerd. While having great sections like Design, Photography and tons of others, they also have a part with bits and bobs that are making great little presents for anyone and yourself. I'm fond of the Waterstones bookstores because the feeling in these stores is very welcoming, even if you just take a look! Also staff is helpful with any questions or if you look for something certain!

Really welcoming environment for book lovers. The abundant wood (staircases, floors, etc) create a warm atmosphere. Very nice cafe overlooking Princes Street. If lucky, you can even sit in the bay window (few spaces ). Good stock on 4 floors. Definitely recommended if you are into books.

McNaughtan's Bookshop & Gallery

3a-4a Haddington Pl, Edinburgh EH7 4AE, UK – 0131 556 5897

It's a very nice little store, perfect for book worms and old fashioned writers (the writing machines were really inspiring!) I loved the very warm welcome, it's not just another store, it's a nice place to go. You can sit in different spots with different atmosphere to read or just enjoy a chat. I saw gorgeous editions and interesting books. Definitively in my to do list next time I'm in Edinburgh !

Awesome bookstore, fairly organized, and a lovely small set up for a gallery space. I bought 3 books at highly reasonable rates.
