Blackwells Bookshop Edinburgh South Bridge

Fantastic bookshop. Multiple floors, helpful staff that allows you to get lost in the shelves but will be there to help you if you need help or book suggestions. There is a Nero coffee shop inside which is always a bonus for bookworms. Happy readings.

Old Town Bookshop

8 Victoria St, Edinburgh EH1 2HG, UK – 0131 225 9237

Very charming little bookstore with antique and vintage books from mostly Scotland. It was a little crowded on the day we popped in. I was hoping to find an older Scottish cookbook but I didn't see any (I didn't ask for assistance, either, so perhaps they did have some.) They also have really nice old prints from books and magazines, fashion, botanicals, and maps that are matted and ready to frame, if you love collecting old prints. Very reasonable prices as well.

Enchanting spot on the marvellous Royal Mile. Definitely don't regret getting by!

Waterstones

128 Princes St, West End, Edinburgh EH2 4AD, UK – 0131 226 2666

Absolutely great. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable and there is a lot of variety in their stock, especially in their non-fiction, basement, area. I recommend checking their website as you can purchase books sometimes at a cheaper price and collect them at the store. I used this click and collect option for the first time recently and received an email within 10min to tell me that the books were ready to collect!

Big bookstore in an interesting old building. Go up to the cafe and enjoy the views from the big windows, right over Princes Street and the Gardens to the Castle above.
